Nine months later, she gave birth to a bouncing baby girl and named her Grace because she had found favor in the sight of an unknown god. She knew that Udeku didn't give her this child. Anthony had named her Olubu(miracle child).

| The Strongest Deity |
Since that day, she had taken care of her child and nursed her to this adolescent stage. Ann cried bitterly remembering what awaits her child who struggled to give birth will soon face in less than 12 hours.
She really hoped that the deity that gave her Grace would rescue her daughter and not allow her to die in the hands of the greedy Udeku.
She knew very well and was convinced in her heart that it was not Udeku that gave her the child. She can't explain it but strongly believes that it was an unknown deity that granted her a child. She had kept it in her heart and had never discussed it with anyone including her husband.
You are the one that gave me this child, please save my daughter. She muttered a prayer to the unknown god, desperately hoping that He would answer her prayers.
She stood up from where she was sitting and informed her husband that she was retiring to bed but he told her to go without him. He was also lost in thought. I can't leave you here by yourself. Ann interjected as she tried to pull him up.
There's nothing you can do for our daughter now. Udeku has already done his worst and there's no way out. Let's get some sleep and hope that something or someone might save our daughter from Udeku. Ann encouraged her husband who was looking dejected. He sluggishly stood up and followed her to their bedroom.
Mark's House
Mark came back and went straight to his room. He was so stressed that he didn't have the strength to argue with any of his parents again tonight. He would argue with them each night he came back late from seeing his friends.
Since he found out about the ritual, he began rebelling against them. He tries as much as he can to rebel against them in any way he can to express how he feels.
He would always argue with them at every slightest moment, but today after the new god refused to speak to them. Ima had hyped the new god, yet he couldn't live up to His name, so he thought.
He had been so angry. He had left their gathering dejectedly and hopelessly. No hope, no saviour. He was doomed to die in the hands of Udeku that ripes where he didn't show. He had been wondering how the people of his kingdom decided to worship a useless, selfish and cunny Udeku. If I die, I die. He murmured to himself as he lay down on the bed while facing the ceiling. He supported his head with his hands.
I'm doomed. I would be slaughtered like a goat in front of that selfish Udeku. How I wish my parents never gave birth to me. He muttered bitterly. It would have been better that he died when he was little or gone through miscarriage. He screamed in his mind.
The so-called new Deity, he wanted to trust, had already disappointed them. They had begun to believe in the new god until he refused to show himself to them. Ima should make sure she never speaks of the new deity ever again. He had disappointed them. They should carry their cross themselves. After all, it was their fate, they should embrace it and not complain. He quietly wiped a tear that dared to fall.
He was so tired about everything so he allowed darkness to take him to the land of dreams.
Mercy, where the hell are you coming from by this time of the night? Ebeke asked her daughter who was just coming in, as she stood up from where she was sitting. Mercy slowed her steps as her mother approached her. I went to see my friends. She mumbled. And they didn't tell you that it's bad for a girl to come back home by this time? She barked angrily.
Mark came back an hour ago and you're just coming back. She snapped.
Please mom, I'm not in the mood for your drama tonight. I just want to rest my head and await my fate tomorrow. She muttered. The only reasonable thing for you to do for me, even if it's the last thing, is just peace of mind. Mercy pleaded helplessly.
She has come back with Mark, she decided to stop at their balcony to calm herself and encourage herself a little. She was demoralized. She couldn't hold her tears as it flowed uncontrollably down her cheeks like a stream. Her little hope smashed. The new god refused to show himself to them.
Her hope came alive when Ima told them how mighty and powerful He is and when they wanted to confirm what she had told them about the new god, He refused to speak to them as He spoke to Ima.
It only means that all the gods in existence have rejected them and have condemned them to die a shameful and painful death in the hands of their 'loving' deity Udeku.
She had stopped at the balcony to cry and encourage herself to accept her date and due in peace for the sake of her kingdom.
With their death, she hopes that Udeku will stop being blood thirsty and kill the sons of the kingdom and protect them instead.
She hopes that their death will bring something new, a better Kingdom where the people will not have to pay with their blood for others to stay alive and prosper. She silently prayed that their death will bring peace, unity and love back to the kingdom. After crying her eyes out, she decided to come inside the house, that was when her mom took notice of her and started scolding her for coming back late while wondering what a girl would be doing outside by that time of the night.
